Crispy Beer Onion Rings

Perfect for a movie night (or day) on the couch. These rings are very addictive. I like them best with an extra cold beer.

Crispy Beer Onion Rings

Serves 2

ingredients

1 big Spanish onion
100 g flour, plus 4 tbsp. for flouring
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp red pepper powder
ca. 150 ml beer
vegetable oil for frying

steps

Peel onion and cut in slices. Detach the rings from one another. Mix flour, red pepper powder and salt in a bowl and slowly add the beer. Stir mixture until it becomes a smooth dough. (The thinner the dough, the thinner the onion rings will be covered.)

Heat oil in a sauce pan. Turn onions in flour, slightly tap and dip in the dough. Remove with a fork, let drip off the dough and fry in the hot oil. Temperature is right when the onion rings produce huge bubbles.

Let drip off on a sheet of paper towel, season with sea salt and serve with a cold beer.
